갤러리2는 2026 프리즈 서울에서 동일한 규격으로 제작된 36점의 회화를 하나의 벽에 펼쳐 보인다. 같은 크기와 같은 조건을 공유하는 화면들은 반복되는 하나의 구조를 이루고, 그 안에서 각 작가가 회화를 다루는 서로 다른 방식이 드러난다.

갤러리2의 아티스트들은 서로 다른 세대와 작업 세계를 가지고 있지만, 회화를 이미 주어진 형식이나 단순한 표현의 수단으로 받아들이기보다 그 가능성과 조건을 각자의 작업 안에서 지속적으로 탐구해왔다는 점에서 만난다. 동일한 규격의 36개 화면은 이들의 작업을 하나의 공통된 조건 위에 놓음으로써, 무엇을 그렸는가를 넘어 각자가 동시대의 회화를 어떻게 이해하고 성립시켜 왔는지를 선명하게 드러낸다. 36 PAINTINGS는 서로 다른 36개의 회화가 한자리에서 만나는 동시에, 갤러리2가 소속 작가들과 함께 오랫동안 회화를 고민해온 방식 자체를 보여주는 프레젠테이션이다.

At Frieze Seoul 2026, Gallery 2 presents thirty-six paintings of identical dimensions across a single wall. Sharing the same scale and conditions, the works form a repeated structure in which each artist’s distinct approach to painting comes into view.

Gallery 2’s artists span different generations and practices, yet they share a sustained commitment to exploring the possibilities and conditions of painting rather than treating it as a given form or simply a means of expression. By placing thirty-six works within the same set of parameters, the presentation shifts attention beyond what is depicted to how each artist understands and brings contemporary painting into being. 36 PAINTINGS brings these distinct approaches together in one place, while also reflecting the way Gallery 2 has long engaged with painting alongside its artists.
