윤영빈(b. 1991)은 2010년대 중반부터 일상의 사물과 유통되는 이미지를 수집하고 재구성하며 회화 작업을 이어왔다. 휴대전화로 촬영한 사진, 클립아트, 포장지와 스티커, 생활용품과 주변 풍경 등 일상에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 이미지와 사물을 작업의 소재로 사용한다. 서로 다른 출처에서 가져온 이미지들을 한 화면에 조합하거나, 이미 존재하는 이미지를 직접 회화로 옮기는 방식을 지속해왔다. 이러한 사소한 대상들을 특별한 상징으로 바꾸기보다 본래의 모습 그대로 다루면서, 이미지가 회화로 옮겨지는 과정에서 생기는 차이와 변화를 작업 안에 받아들인다. 매끄러운 화면과 얇은 붓질, 원본 이미지를 닮은 형태를 만들어내는 방식은 윤영빈의 회화를 특징짓는 주요한 요소다.
최근 작업에서는 주거 공간의 균열에서 발견한 형태를 얼굴로 발전시키고 이를 클립아트에서 가져온 사물과 결합하거나, 직접 만든 물감과 굳은 물감 조각을 사용하는 등 작업의 범위를 넓혀가고 있다. 기존에는 이미지의 형태를 화면에 옮기는 데 집중했다면, 최근에는 붓질과 물감의 흔적을 보다 적극적으로 드러내며 캔버스의 표면과 재료 자체에도 관심을 두고 있다. 이러한 변화는 캔버스 안에 머물던 작업을 회화가 놓이는 주변 공간으로까지 이어지게 한다.
윤영빈은 2025년 한국예술종합학교 미술원 조형예술과 예술전문사를 졸업했다. 2022년부터 세 차례의 개인전을 통해 작업을 발표해왔으며, 그 과정에서 수집된 이미지와 사물의 조합에서 재현의 방식과 회화의 물질적 조건으로 작업의 범위를 확장해왔다. 일민미술관과 서울시립 북서울미술관 등 주요 미술관의 기획전에 참여하며 지속적으로 작업을 선보이고 있다.
Yeongbin Yoon (b. 1991) has developed a painting practice since the mid-2010s by collecting and reconfiguring everyday objects and circulating images. Her sources include photographs taken on her phone, clip art, packaging and stickers, household objects, and scenes from her surroundings. She brings images from disparate sources together within a single composition or translates existing images directly into painting. Rather than transforming these ordinary subjects into symbolic motifs, Yoon retains their familiar appearance while allowing for the differences and shifts that occur as images are transferred into paint. Smooth surfaces, thin applications of paint, and forms that closely resemble their source images have become defining features of her work.
In recent works, Yoon has expanded her practice by developing forms found in cracks within domestic spaces into faces and combining them with objects drawn from clip-art libraries, while also incorporating handmade paints and fragments of dried paint. Whereas her earlier works focused primarily on transferring the forms of images onto the canvas, she has increasingly brought brushwork and traces of paint to the fore, extending her attention to the physical surface and material qualities of painting itself. This shift has also allowed her work to move beyond the boundaries of the canvas and into the surrounding exhibition space.
Yoon received her MFA in Fine Arts from Korea National University of Arts in 2025. She has presented three solo exhibitions since 2022, during which her practice has expanded from arrangements of collected images and objects toward broader concerns with modes of representation and the material conditions of painting. She has also participated in institutional group exhibitions at venues including Ilmin Museum of Art and Buk-Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul Museum of Art.
